Compassion – catalyst to spiritual development

To the Buddhist, compassion is “Mettā (Pali) or maitrī (Sanskrit) meaning benevolence, loving-kindness, friendliness, amity, good will, and active interest in others”. By itself it is an important branch of meditation called: “Metta Meditation”

In my life long practice in spirituality, I realize the importance of compassion. It is simplified as the act of giving unconditionally.

I have not been blessed with abundance of wealth to donate generously to charities and help the underprivileged. But, at least I try to do my part by selflessly sharing my knowledge and wisdom which I have painstakingly amassed over the years on spirituality. This is the driving force behind my blog Psychic Tavern.

As a life long practice, I have always reminded myself to cultivate metta – compassion heart. I have been practicing this by having a satellite picture of earth on my altar. In my daily prayers I include in my recitation : “Thank you, All the Buddhas and Bodhisattva, for blessing the World, with “Peace, Protection And Prosperity”. This precede my prayers for blessing of all “My friends, My family and Myself” with the same 3 “Ps” Peace, Protection and Prosperity”
